THE ORIGIN
EARLY BEGINNINGS
Karting
Like many drivers, my journey into motorsports began with competitive karting. I spent several years racing high-powered go-karts at Sonoma International Raceway, where I developed the fundamental racecraft and car control that would shape the rest of my driving career.
At Sonoma, I was fortunate to learn from, and drive alongside IndyCar / Champ Car Legend Memo Gidley. Through this experience, I honed the essential skills of car control and race craft.
The highlight of my karting days peaked when I raced against 2009 Formula One World Champion, Jenson Button. At the former CalSpeed Karting Circuit in Fontana, California, both Jenson and I were consistently driving within the same 47-second lap time.
THE NEXT STEP
Endurance sports car racing
After karting, I transitioned into full-size race cars and spent approximately eight years competing in endurance sports car racing. I regularly participated in long-format endurance events, including 16-hour races, where consistency, discipline, and mechanical sympathy are just as important as raw speed. The highlight of my sports car racing era was securing a second place finish in a 16-hour endurance race at Laguna Seca. Despite favorable results, the escalating cost of road course racing ultimately made it difficult to continue pursuing the next level of competition.
That turning point is what led me to drifting.

Getting sideways
DRIFTING
I learned to drift in a stock-powered Subaru BRZ, later upgrading to a Nissan 350Z with plans to compete. But on the morning of a drift event, the 350Z’s throw-out bearing failed, leaving the car unable to go into gear.
Not wanting to waste the entry fee, I brought my daily driver instead—a rear-wheel-drive Kia EV6.
With traction control disabled, I expected to slide a few corners for fun. Instead, within a few laps I was linking the entire track. Spectators were stunned watching an electric crossover drift like a purpose-built car, and videos from the day quickly began circulating online.
One of those clips went viral, surpassing 100,000 views—far beyond anything I had posted before. The reaction at the track and online made one thing clear: EV drifting had captured people’s attention.
I continued refining the platform with the EV6 and eventually moved into the high-performance EV6 GT, which produces nearly 600 horsepower, has an E-LSD, and factory drift mode. The additional performance allowed me to run alongside serious drift cars on track.
Still, the nearly 5,000-pound weight and limited aftermarket support led me to a new idea: building a Tesla Model 3 into a competitive drift car.
After acquiring a rear-wheel-drive Model 3 Long Range, I immediately took it to the track and discovered it was an incredible drift platform—even completely stock. Within a month I entered my first drift competition, a “Big Entry” contest judged on entry speed, angle, and style.
Against fully built drift cars equipped with hydraulic handbrakes and angle kits, I sent the Tesla into the corner at over 50 mph. The car performed flawlessly, carrying massive angle through the turn. The result: 7th place out of roughly 20–30 competitors—an exceptional finish for a completely stock Tesla.
That moment confirmed what I had begun to realize: electric drifting is far more capable than most people imagine.
Today I am building the Tesla into a fully competitive drift car and preparing to campaign it in grassroots drift competitions. What started as a broken throw-out bearing and a last-minute decision to bring an electric daily driver to the track has turned into a mission to push the limits of EV motorsports.
To further the progress of the Tesla drift build and my mission with EV drifting, I am looking to partner with brands who share the same vision.
